Worth It!

Here’s the bottom line. If you are going to paint a major project, then you are going to get messy. There’s no way around it. If you are looking for a product that will make your job easy and clean, then keep looking — and good luck finding one. This gun is easy to work with, but it makes a mess (paint on hands, messy clean-up, etc.).I painted my garage by hand for two hours, and I managed to spread a gallon of paint. My garage has cedar shingles, and I was not able to get in between the cracks to apply paint. Then I purchased this sprayer the next week. In two hours, I was able to apply SIX GALLONS, cover 20 TIMES the area I had covered by hand the previous week, and I was able to apply paint in between the shingles.Like I said, the clean up was a mess. The gun also “spats” paint if the suction line comes out of the paint source and sucks air, but what do you expect?I good tip: ALWAYS point the gun away from the surface as you apply the trigger because the gun usually “spats” if it has been off for a few minutes. When the paint atomizes, then spray away! This product is worth the money. I have used the Wagner product three times in the past — painted two houses years ago and am now painting my garage. This model (1600) is improved over the one I used years ago to paint houses — it has a return line that prevents a lot of dripping.

Excellent time saver
Once I figured out how to set up the Wagner 220 it worked great. Its a big time saver you can paint a 12X12 room including ceiling in less than 1 hour. Good for larger jobs since clean up takes about 15 minutes. I would have given 5 stars if I did not have to thin the laytex paint before starting.

Wonderful time saver
This is a great paint tool. After taping up a room and laying down some plastic to cover the furniture and floors, it took only 30 minutes to paint the entire room. I painted two colors and had to let the walls dry between colors. I think you need to spend the time to properly prepare the room as if you were going to roll it and carefully research the paint you want to use. Some paints are designed to be think and applied with a roller. Others are designed to be applied in a variety of ways like with an airless painter. Preparation is the key and patience to let the walls dry. If you want to slap paint on a wall then this is not for you. I recommend having two plastic buckets on hand. One to thin the paint and use to prime the pump. The other should have warm, soapy water in it. When you are done, take the parts off of the painter that are to be cleaned and drop them in for two hours. Then rinse. I also suggest that you have spare parts like the airator and piston. Spend a few more dollars and have backup parts. Also, ge the wide-tip latex nozzle. It is worth it and they can all be purchased through Amazon[.com] or at a local home improvement store. Rooms with many corners and tight spaces should be brushed or rolled. Larger rooms can easily be finished in a couple of hours from beginning to end.
