pretty quiet. fast FW800. mostly problem free
Previously I had an OWC 1TB drive as back up for my iMac. It was in RAID-0 and also FW800 so it was fast. But loud! And I would only turn it on for backing up data.
It stopped working after a year so I purchased a couple LaCie 750GB [...]

xtreme storage
Way better than the older freeagent external drive it replaced so far. It’s smaller and lighter and the software to turn off the drive light actually works in Vista x64 now. What I really like is how the light stays off even when the power is completely off until you switch it back on. [...]
